About the company

State Street Ballet, founded in 1994 by Rodney Gustafson, is an internationally acclaimed dance company based in Santa Barbara, CA. This pioneering collaborative employs dancers from around the world, consistently striving for new and innovative artistic opportunities that serve a broad audience.

The company tours both nationally and internationally, offering public and outreach performances to audiences across the globe. From China to Chile, State Street Ballet has met international acclaim and boasts a 90% rebooking rate.

Each season is dedicated to bringing the highest standards of artistry and originality to tried and true classical favorites, plus new works that reflect the contemporary nature and talent of the ensemble.

Outreach

State Street Ballet believes that every child deserves the chance to experience dance. From interactive outreach performances, community master classes, and in-school workshops, the company serves students of all age and all abilities in Santa Barbara and beyond. The company was proud to engage 15,000 students in the arts during the 2021/22 season.

Training

Not only is The Gail Towbes Center for Dance a home for professional ballet, but the facility also offers training for dancers of all ages through State Street Ballet’s Professional Track Program and annual Summer Intensive, and through the affiliation State Street Ballet Academy.
